FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ga. — A manhunt that began in Franklin County over the weekend ended with the capture of suspect Clinton Patrick Miller, who is now in custody at the Franklin County Jail, authorities announced Sunday.
The incident began on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 13, in the Canon community, when deputies responded to an altercation that left one man injured and airlifted to the hospital.
During the response, Miller allegedly led deputies on a chase in a stolen vehicle reported out of state. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed through a pasture fence and struck a tree.
Miller then fled into nearby woods, sparking a large-scale search.
Sheriff Scott Andrews said Miller, who faces charges in Franklin County including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, also has multiple outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions.
After an extensive search involving multiple agencies, Miller was captured in Stephens County.
Franklin County officials credited the successful arrest to the collaboration of several departments, including the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia State Patrol, the Banks County Sheriff’s Office, and the Department of Natural Resources.
“We are blessed to have a great working relationship with our neighboring counties,” Andrews said in a statement. “Great job to all our law enforcement.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
