Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Investigates a Shooting in Royston

PRESS RELEASE – On January 12, 2026, at approximately 8:32 p.m., Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported shooting at a commercial location off Franklin Springs Street in Royston, Georgia.

Upon arrival, deputies rendered aid to an 18-year-old male victim from Hartwell, Georgia. The victim was treated on scene and transported for further medical care.

The suspect, Suhail Mohamed, age 21, of Hartwell, Georgia, has been taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault.

This incident appears to be isolated, and there is no danger to the public at this time. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a thorough and ongoing investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
