Home Invasion in Franklin County

PRESS RELEASE – On July 14  at approximately 4:12 am, Franklin County 911 center received a call reporting a home invasion and assault at a residence on Fairview Farms Circle.

Deputies responded to the scene and a victim was located that had been assaulted.

The victim was transported by Franklin County EMS to Sacred Heart Hospital.

Investigators were called to the scene.

Through the investigation two suspects were identified and arrest warrants were taken for both.

The suspects were located and were arrested and are currently being held in the Franklin County Jail.

This is an ongoing investigation and more arrests and charges will be forthcoming.

Suspect: Austin King 28 years of age Brookdale Road Toccoa.

Suspect: Joel Travis Smith 40 years of age Ed Davis Road Toccoa.

Charges: Burglary 1st Degree, Armed Robbery, False Imprisonment, Aggravated Assault, Felony Home Invasion, Aggravated Battery.
