Pursuit on I-85 Ends in Arrests, Multiple Felony Charges

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ga. – A traffic stop on Interstate 85 in Franklin County escalated into a pursuit Oct. 1 that ended with two arrests and multiple felony charges, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
A Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop a gold Chevrolet Tahoe traveling on I-85 on Oct. 1, 2026. The driver allegedly refused to stop, initiating a pursuit.
The pursuit ended on Baty Road after deputies successfully performed a Precision Immobilization Technique, or PIT, maneuver to bring the vehicle to a stop.
Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody.
According to the sheriff’s office, suspected drugs and a firearm were thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit. Responding law enforcement officers recovered suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, THC products, firearms, ammunition, digital scales and numerous plastic baggies.
The driver, identified as Colin Bryant, faces multiple charges, including fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, possession with intent to distribute, firearm-related offenses, tampering with evidence, driving under the influence, reckless driving and multiple traffic violations.
The passenger, identified as Carley Austin, faces charges including possession with intent to distribute and tampering with evidence.
The case remains under investigation.
The charges are allegations, and Bryant and Austin are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
